ClassPass: The Beginners Guide
What a week of intense workouts! I spent the last three days working out at three very different studios. I took a spin class to get my cardio going after the long Labor Day weekend, then I took a full body bootcamp class to kick my butt into gear, and then finished the third day with warm yoga for some stretching and core strengthening. It may sound like I'm trying to kill myself, but I feel great and more importantly I enjoyed the variety of these exercises.
I never owned a gym membership that lasted over a year, mainly because I enjoy being outdoors. I rather run on a trail, hit some tennis balls, or go kayaking. I was never really a gym rat nor did I have any desire to pay a gym to force myself to workout. However, I tried ClassPass to get in shape for my wedding. I gave it a shot because the first month was discounted and I was interested in taking a bunch of new workout classes. There are tons of classes! For me, ClassPass is a great alternative to a gym membership since I live in the city and have access to so many studios. ClassPass supplements my solo running regiment and adds a nice social aspect to my exercise routine.

What is ClassPass?
- It's an app on for your phone.
- When studios/gyms can't fill up their classes, they outsource it to ClassPass users who can sign up using their app.
- You'll have access to a plethora of studios (however availability will be the limiting factor).
- You pay a monthly fee to attend 5,10, or an unlimited amount of classes.
- I have the 5 classes per month membership. I can only go to the sames studio twice during the month, but this forces me to try other studios and switch up my routine.
- Classes do not roll over. Once your monthly cycle is complete you will get a new set of classes.
- Before you sign up, check the website or phone app to see what studios are around you.
- If you are a gym rat, ClassPass partners up with gyms to offer 1 hour gym time/access.
- If you like working out at the gym then, this may not be for you. If you like attending instructor led courses, then this is for you.
- The class cycle keeps you in check and forces you to maximize your workouts.
- ClassPass will have a 24 or 12 hour cancellation policy on classes. If you choose to cancel after the cutoff time or miss a class, you'll be charged $20. This forces many people to stick it out.
